Rath Yatra will be held in Puri as usually, the construction work of Rath has been started

Country News

Aaj Khabor (English), Puri, Odisha, 10/05/2020 : Seeing the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in the country, it was decided at first that the Rath Yatra would not be held this time, but with the consent of the Central Government, the construction of the Rath (Chariots) on the occasion of the Rath Yatra has already started in Puri.
Due to the increasing incidence of Corona epidemic in the country, the central government had to extend the lock down period again and again. Keeping an eye on the situation, the Odisha government also informed that this time the mega festival will not be held on the occasion of the chariot like other times, but the chariot will be taken to the temple premises in a small way.
Plenty number of devotees were upset about this. But in the same way, as that a day comes when the night is over, the central government has allowed the construction of the chariot keeping in mind about the present situation..
Shri Ajay Jena, Administrative Development Officer, Lord Jagannath Temple, said, "We have got permission from the Central Government for the Rath Yatra, but there are some conditions. We will abide by that condition. Work on the chariot has already started. We are going fast, so that the chariot is ready soon, because this year, we have already delayed to start the work of making the chariot. "
Mr. Jenna added, "We call those who work day and night to build chariots, as 'chariot servants' so that those chariot servants do not have difficulty finishing work in a short time and do not have to commute daily under lock down situation. We have arranged three buildings near the temple for them so that they can stay there with their families." It is pertinent to mention that the 9-day-long Rath Yatra festival will start from June 23 with a grand ceremony this year.
