Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists

Aaj Khabor (English), Islamabad, Pakistan, 12/11/2020 :  Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, according to a report by 'Freedom Network'.

A total of 140 journalists have been killed in Pakistan since 2000, according to the Freedom Network. The mass media is considered essential to the whole world. But Pakistani law has become extremely dangerous for journalists working through the media.According to the report, Pakistani law is twice as risky for journalists working in TV media as it is for journalists working in print media. Especially for journalists working in Pakistan's Sindh province, it is three times more risky.

Journalists from around the world travel to Pakistan to cover the news. One-third of these journalists are charged with various crimes under Pakistani law, and one-third are charged only with terrorism. The rest are charged with electronic crime or defamation. The most frequently arrested charges against journalists in Pakistan are 'working against state institutions' or 'disrespecting state institutions'. Most of the journalists were arrested for this crime. Other allegations include 'possession of weapons or explosives', 'drug smuggling', 'possession of prohibited literature' and 'harassment of citizens'.

According to the report, Pakistani police have completed very few cases. Half of it was declared fit for trial. However, in 80% of the cases of journalists arrested, the trial is not over. Continues year after year. Most journalists are not even given a chance to prove their innocence. In 10 of the 16 cases, no decision has been reached, so the trial continues year after year.

The report says that no journalist in Pakistan gets justice at all. Similarly, the condition of all the journalists living in Pakistan is not so good. Just as there is poverty in their lives, there are cases of government discrimination. Already, 15,000 Sangabadis have lost their jobs in Pakistan, and the number has risen sharply in recent weeks. The article makes it clear that the media in Pakistan is in a crisis at the moment.

Boris Johnson, P.M. - U.K.

Aaj Khabor (English), London, U.K. 12/11/2020 : "Let Pakistan Govt. immediately stop the persecution to the people in their country, let the basic human rights prevail", this is how British Prime Minister Boris Johnson attacked Pakistan today.

Ordinary people in Pakistan are already living below the extreme poverty line. The Pak government is not able to give them even the slightest opportunity for the kind of life. However, if there is any protest against the government, the voice of the protesters is being suppressed. The government of Pakistan is torturing the common people. People from different parts of Pakistan are being attacked by the Pakistani government.

Last Sunday, 82-year-old Mehboob Ali Khan was shot dead by Pakistani police. What was his crime? He claimed to be an 'Ahmadi' Muslim. A fourth person died in Peshawar after claiming to be an "Ahmadi" Muslim. Ahmadi Muslim's principle is 'Don't hurt anyone, love everyone'. Can someone be brutally shot and killed for this crime ?

Today, British MP Imran Ahmed Khan raised the question that the government of Pakistan should stop oppressing the common people. In this context, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson told Imran, "In Pakistan, there is no basic rights of the common people. Human rights are completely violated there, the government of Pakistan should bring back human rights there immediately. Let the government of Pakistan immediately stop the oppression of the common people."
