The issue of Tibet should be raised in the U.N.by India : Shanta Kumar

Aaj Khabor (English), New Delhi, India, 12/11/2020 : BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Shanta Kumar today wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminding him that India should speak out in the U.N. on Tibet.

In his letter, BJP leader Shanta Kumar wrote, "India has given the Bharat Ratna to the Dalai Lama, the religious head of Tibet. India has certain obligations to Tibet. China has unjustly occupied Tibet. India should atone for the sin committed by the then Congress government by raising the issue of Tibet in United Nations.

"Tibet has never been on the map of China. Tibet was an independent country. China has repeatedly shown its policy of aggression. China forcibly occupied Tibet, and killed many Tibetans. Took captive and carried out cruel torture. At that time, the Dalai Lama fled Tibet to India and sought refuge in this country. Since then, the Dalai Lama and his followers have lived in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.

China's oppression of Tibet has not stopped yet. Tibet has repeatedly stated that they want to get rid of China, they want independence. Today, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar wrote a letter to Narendra Modi raising the issue again. "India should raise the whole issue of Tibet in United Nations and help the Tibetans," he said.
