State media announces three-day ceremony in Tehran to bid farewell to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Aaj Khabor (English), [International} , Teheran, Iran. 04/03/2026 : Reports in Israeli media earlier claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had been selected as his successor and could soon become Iran’s next Supreme Leader. However, the Iranian government has rejected these claims, stating that no official announcement has been made and no decision regarding succession has been taken so far.
Israeli media reports had also suggested that Mojtaba played a significant role in managing the office of his father and represented a hard-line political stance within Iran’s leadership. Iranian authorities, however, have not confirmed these claims.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state media reported that arrangements have been made to hold a farewell ceremony for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The ceremony will take place over three days in Tehran at the prayer complex associated with Ruhollah Khomeini, where political and religious leaders are expected to participate.
